BOOT Problems

#>with windows cd

##>Important boot files were deleted
-boot from cd
-select recovery console
-typ 

###> boot.ini was deleted / hal.dll was deleted
bootcfg /rebuild -creates a new boot.ini file

###> ntldr/ntdetect.com was deleted / win2000 installed over winXP
-map
-identify ur cdrom
-copy g:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
-where g is ur cdrom drive

###> bootsector was deleted
fixboot -for writing a new bootsector file

##>MBR over written
fixmbr -to write a new master boot record(ignore the warning).can be used to remove grub

##>Service disabled problem
if u disabled any important service ,which has crashed the system
-type listsvc
-locate all the services that u dsabled
-enable servicename SERVICE_SYSTEM_START
-this command enables the service


##>Hard disk problems
Chkdsk  /r locates bad sectors and recovers readable information

#>Without windows cd
##>with dos

###>MBR over written
-format \mbr

###>Important files over written
-sys c: (works only for win98)
